Senior Structural Engineer

Summary :

The applicant will design, build and test prototype aircraft structures. The scope of work will span from conceptual to detail design, part and assembly design, system design, manufacturing support and flight test support. Typical work includes but no limited to design and manufacture of primary structural elements, secondary structural elements and their integration into the overall vehicle.

Responsibilities :

  • Design Activities
  • - Create 3D/2D definition of parts, assemblies and installations.

    - Generate fabrication and assembly work instructions.

    - Establish manufacturing tolerances for production of structural components.

    - Check/Review 3D definition of parts, assemblies and installations.

    - Check/Review 2D definition of parts, assemblies and installations.

  • Analysis Activities
  • - Design the primary and secondary load paths for the vehicle.

    - Generate structural design requirements document.

    - Perform stress analyses using classical and finite element methods.

    - Create stress analysis related documents.

    - Check/Review stress analysis documents.

    - Consolidate stress analysis report for each project.

    - Create structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing processes meet design intent and requirements.

  • Other Activities
  • - Support manufacturing and assembly.

    - Support ground and flight test planning, test execution and aircraft modifications.

    - Support design proposals

    - Mentor other engineers, participate in internal and external training activities.

    Qualification :

  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution or substantial equivalent experience. A Master’s of Science is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in structural design, mechanical design, or stress analysis.
  • Prior work experience in the aerospace/aeronautical industry is a strong plus.

  • Professional Skill :

  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle load paths and structural sizing.
  • Good understanding of composite manufacturing and assembly, is desired.
  • Excellent proficiency in 3D CAD is required. Competency in SolidWorks 3D CAD is desired.
  • Excellent proficiency in ABAQUS FEA or other finite element analysis software, is desired.
  • Good level of English verbal and written communication.
  • Typical IELTS Level: 6 or similar is an advantage.
  • Good team player.
  • Strong leadership.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have a proactive approach.
  • Able to work under pressure.
